Workflow Approval for Recurring Entries

BC has a workflow approval for journal entries where you can choose templates to require approval. It works well, but the problem is the recurring journals run through the /general/ template. We have an approval required for general journals, so the recurring entries also require approval, but there's no functionality to request approval for the recurring entries. What is the solution and when will Microsoft resolve this very basic oversight? I've seen multiple posts and requests for this functionality from several years ago and it seems Microsoft hasn't made any effort to resolve this. What is a temporary solution in the meantime to be able to post recurring entries without being blocked by the approval workflow (also without just turning off the approval requirement every time we need to post from the recurring journal)?

If your workflow is for general journal batches you can simply add a filter to skip the recurring journal. For example:

Is there a way to require the approval for recurring? Your solution is helpful to not require an approval for recurring entries entirely, but if the client needs to have that approval for recurring entries (which there's no button in BC for), is there a way to get that approval workflow to work for recurring entries?

Out of the box this is not possible. To make it work a developer would have to add the approval buttons to the Recurring General Journal
