Generic SQL Error in View

We were recently upgraded to CRM 2015 (Online). Someone today brought to my attention a problem with a couple of Opportunity views we've had since before the upgrade. We get a "Generic SQL Error" when running the views; after playing around in Advanced Find I have been able to work out that if we use a property from the Opportunity record in the filter criteria along with a field from the related Opportunity Products it fails. If I only use fields from one entity or the other it works fine.

Has something changed in 2015 that would impact this? I noticed a lot of new stuff around Products...? The view criteria (and what also fails when set up in Advanced Find) is:

  • Status Equals Open
  • Opportunity Products (Opportunity) > Existing Product Begins With {product name}

Because there are a number of products potentially with the same starting name (for various flavours that have different pricing) I have chosen to use the "Begins With" rather than specifying the potential list of products so we don't have to keep updating the view. Again, the query works if only using the related record criteria (without the parent Opportunity "status" filter). This view worked fine prior to the 2015 upgrade(s).

Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi Mal,

    Can you turn on Tracing and get a more detailed error? This is a pretty awesome tool:

    Thanks for the quick reply, Aiden. It looks like that tool only works in an on-premise installation; ours is online. Please let me know if I have this wrong.

    I had a similar issue with Process Session that I have logged on Connect (connect.microsoft.com/.../bug-advanced-find-process-session-sql-error). If you share a screenshot of you advanced find filter criteria, and it doesn't involve any custom fields, I can try running this on my local environment and see whether I experience the same issue as well. If so, it might be a bug.
