Filtered Lookup by State

Apparently I'm too stupid to figure this out. I need to do a simple filtered look up by state. I have listed all 3 names because I'm not sure which to use where in the code.

On my form I want to

1: Look into "Address" (as shown on form) "Address 1" (Display Name) "address1_composite" (Name) find the state,

2: Then under "Dealer Account" (as shown on form) "Dealer Name" (Display Name) "new_dealeraccount" (Name) look up/search for dealer accounts in that state

3: Based on the dealer chosen select a contact from that dealer

I'm sure this is simple, but I have spent hours failing at this. Please tell me step by step what to do. If you are going to point me to an example online please tell me exactly which part goes where, I am beyond lost.

I was attempting to do this via JS. Is there a benefit of doing it this way vs script?

Assuming 'State' is a lookup field in your CRM.

If not, make it a lookup; that would make your work a lot easier.

Go to form editor>>Double click 'Dealer Account'>>select only related accounts State (Dealer)

Do it for Dealer Contacts as well

Go to form editor>>Double click 'Dealer Contact'>>select only related contact Contact (Dealer Account)
