Suspend financial dimension values

Hi

We tried to suspend financial dimension values from account with the entity FinancialDimensionValueEntity. This takes to long time while there are millions of records.
Also DMF parameter change like no-validation or distinct legal entity did not help. Connect with Excel Addin was not successful, values cannot be filtered by value list.

Is it recommended to do it with a job on table DimensionAttributeValue? Any other idea?

Thanks for your help.

Job will not help to be honest for this.

it's better to do it manually if you have more numbers better to create an advance rule that only these dimensions can be used with this set of accounts , or ask dev to create a custom script

    Hi @Jan M.,

Could you please clarify whether you want to suspend financial dimension values across multiple financial dimensions, or only for a specific financial dimension (for example, Department only)?

It is only for values of the dimension Account. The one has no derived dimensions and the values no tab "Legal entity overrides".

    Thanks for a hint.

    Hi @Jan M.,

If I understand correctly, you want to suspend a Financial Dimension value from an account. Specifically, if the Department value “FIN Dept.” is assigned to the Bank account and Fixed assets as a default Financial Dimension, you would like to suspend the “FIN Dept.” value only for the Bank account, not for the Fixed assets default Financial Dimension.

Could you please confirm if this is your requirement?

It would also be helpful if you could share a few screenshots illustrating the scenario and your expected outcome.

    Regards,
    Syed Haris Shah

    Hello,

As mentioned by Syed, if you would like to provide more information about your case we can dress better our suggestion.
There are fondementaly two alternative options if you would like to avoid the utilization of financial dimension:
    • Suspend dimension value: Suspend as mentioned directly on the value. You can use the DMF  and the data entity Financial dimension value legal entity overrides V2 to suspend the value only for some legal entity
    • Account structure: You can avoit combinaison of main account + financial dimension value based on the rules set. The best is to have account sctructure by legal entity if the business requirement are radicaly different.

    Thank you,
    Giorgio

With the mentioned entity we got the error: Results. A legal entity override can't be specified for financial dimension value Account which is not shared across legal entities. Set the properties at the financial dimension value level instead.

    Form: mi=DimensionDetails

We just want to suspend all values of one legal entity.

    Thanks.

    Hi @Jan M.,

The data entity Financial dimension value legal entity override V2 only works for custom financial dimensions and does not apply to system-defined financial dimensions.

For system-defined financial dimensions, suspension must be managed at the financial dimension value level rather than through the legal entity override entity.

If the requirement is to suspend multiple system-defined financial dimension values, one option is to export the each FD and its dimension values separately using the Data Management export entity (filter specific FD), apply the necessary updates, and then import the changes to suspend the values. Repeat the same with other FD and its value in batches.

Alternatively, this could be done through a SQL script. However, running scripts directly in the production database requires Microsoft approval and must be submitted through a support request before execution.

If you find this answer helpful, please consider verifying the answer. 👍

We tried also with only 10 records what tooks hours. The reason you can see in env monitoring where query collects some hundred million of db reads. Thus no way over DMF.

Also no way is Sql you mentioned. The reason is, that D365 on update does set values in cache. May with a AOS restart it would work, but not the process for Prod.

So I think the only way is over a D365 job.

    Thanks.
