Hi...

OVERVIEW:

I have one VirtualMachine 'CRM 2013.vhdx'. Below are it's details:

OS - Windows Server 2012 Standard

Ms CRM server - 2013

Domain - MyOffice.com

Host & Computer Name - My-Host-Name

This vhd and its mscrm is working fine in my office under "MyOffice" domain.

PROBLEM:

I setup the same Vhd 'CRM 2013.vhdx' in my personal computer on Windows 8.1 Pro.

VM starts and is working fine. But when I open MsCrm, it can't open and throws some error in event viewer.

Below are the errors:

1) Could not find AD entry for : My-Host-Name$ with SearchFilter: samAccountNam.....

2) The local computer is not joined to a domain or the domain cannot be contacted.....

CAUSE:

It seems - MsCrm application try to get "MyOffice" domain and can't found - as it is my personal computer.

1) What do I do to start this MsCrm application?

Thanks in advance.

From what you describe I am assuming you want to have a CRM environment for development and testing.

Dynamics CRM requires Active Directory.  From what you describe, this is connecting to your active directory at your office.

At home, the VM cannot connect to your office's AD computer, therefore won't work.

In order to built a "portable" VM running CRM, it will need all components (including AD) running on the one VM or collection of VMs on your computer.

Here is a good article on setting up a "DEV" CRM environment on a virtual machine.

    http://mehmet.ozdemir.id.au/2014/12/installing-a-dynamics-crm-2015-for-demo-environment/

The instructions are for CRM 2015, but CRM 2013 is not all that different.  You might need help from whomever setup the original VM for you.

    Cheers

    Nick
