Hello,

Where can I find the warranty date based on the serial number of the finished production order item? The item has an item tracking code applied with a 2-year warranty date formula.

this could be found on item tracking entries from item card. below is an example. I didn't define the warranty date so it is empty, but if you do, the field will be populated.

Warranty Date Tracking is done within the Service Management module of Business Central. This requires the Premium license to function.

Does your warranty start when you complete the manufacturing of the Item or when you sell the Item?

If at time of sale, you can use the "Service Item Group" (set on the Item Card) to automatically create a Service Item at time of Sale. The Service Item will be created with the default warranty period you've setup. The system has a Labor Warranty and a Parts Warranty, which can be the same or different.

If you are starting the warranty at time of Production (regardless of sale), you would create the Service Item manually (or through a Customization upon Output). When the Item is eventually sold, you would need to manually (or through a Customization) update the Service Item record for that Serial No. to the Customer.
