Work Order Templates?

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Can I make work order templates so I can open one and just add the customer and any additional info later?  For example, we do spring openings and want to be able to quickly choose a "spring pool opening" work order which will have all the basics of an opening on it that we can change as needed for the individual customer.  This way we don't have to recreate the same work order for 200 clients.  Thank you for any info/ideas you have!

Best option would be to create an Assembly item for this purpose with Item Lookup Code = SPO and Description = "Spring Pool Opening".

Add all items that can be included in a spring opening to the assembly including quantities and any special pricing.

Sell the SPO item on the work order and all the assembly items will be added automatically. You can then remove any items that don't apply for that customer account by scrolling to a line item and pressing Spacebar or Del. Then save the work order.

    .

If you don't see the Assembly Item option when you select Manager, Database, Items, New, select File, Configuration, Options, Item options and uncheck "Always display Find window for items".

    RE: Work Order Templates?

Are you doing the work order with RMS 2.0?

Basically to do process a work order.  You change the sale to work order type. Select the customer, and add items to the sale.  Then save the work order or convert to a sale.

Not sure what part of this process you want to change or do later.

It you just want to automate the adding of the items.  Then you can record a macro on RMS 2.0 or you creating the first work order, without selecting the customer of course.  Then use that macro.

So basically after you have recorded the macro, the process would be :  Select Customer - activate the recorded macro.  See the help file about recording macros.
