Our users can bulk edit opportunities, accounts, contacts etc using the Excel Online option.
When they try this for activities however it allows them to view the records in Excel Online but not make changes i.e. the Save button is missing.
Is this by design as there can be multiple types of activities? Or is it maybe a permissions issue?

If you are familiar with Power Automate, you can try to create a flow to achieve the bulk edit with the following template.
Click button to get records from Excel Online Business and create CSV file
Power Automate can access the data from Excel online and you just need to adjust the steps based on your request.
