GP 2013 Windows 8.1 Install Issue

Having an issue installing GP 2013 on a freshly built windows 8.1 client with all available patches. The required components install without issue but then the installation fails and fails on additional attempts to launch setup.exe. The error message is:

.NET Framework Setup Error

Unable to configure the application domain setup information

Not enough storage is available to complete this operation

Microsoft.Dynamics.GP.Deployment.UX.EntryPoint.Run() v4.0.303419

Although I have not been able to locate any information about this error specifically with GP, other information on the web indicates issues with either disk or memory storage and both are more than adequate with 6+ GB's of memory not in use and 244 GB's of free space available.Have cleared temp files, run as administrator, disabled UAC, closed unnecessary programs, processes, services. Anyone have any suggestions?

    Hi Victoria,

You were correct in this instance. It was the anti virus program Trend Micro, that made the install very slow, and the program unusable. It only occurred on the Windows 8.1 installs. The Windows 7 installs worked fine with the same anti virus software loaded.

    Thank you for your suggestion.

Because this is an old download

    Version: 4.5

    Date Published:  6/2/2008

I do not know what the current version is, but I'm sure with Win8 shipped with at least ver 4.5

    Hi Mariano,

I went to the link you have displayed, but I am confused on which part I should download and install on a Windows 8.1 machine. It is not listed as a supported system.

I have read the other posts below and the client does not want to re-format the machine.

Is there any other method to use. This has occurred on2 separate machines.

Thank you for all the replies. I ended up just reformatting and reinstalling late last night after downloading a fresh install DVD. Installed GP first to confirm things were working and I am good to go.

    Rob,

You mentioned 'run as administrator' in your original post. Does that mean you are right clicking on the install and choosing 'run as administrator'? If so, instead try logging into Windows as the local built-in administrator. Not a domain admin and not a user who is part of the local administrators group. THE local built-in administrator. I have seen that make a big difference in a number of situations. If that's what you are already doing, then the only other idea I have is to try to turn off any AV software that may be running in case it is conflicting with the install.

Unfortunately I think you're stuck formatting and re-installing.  Is this a vendor supplied image or one you built yourself?

  • RE: GP 2013 Windows 8.1 Install Issue

That did not install either. It may be because it is embedded already but I get the error:

The certificate for the signer of the message is not valid.

All information on this error indicates that Windows Identity Foundation needs to be installed and it already is. I tried removing/adding the feature but no luck. It took me forever to get things set up I would hate to rebuild and end up with the same issue but leaning in that direction.

Try installing the latest Windows Installer Redistributable - www.microsoft.com/.../details.aspx

I tried both the RTM and Bundled with SP2. Same result. Dexterity Shared components install and then the install crashes.

Are you using 2013 with SP2 already bundled in?
