Update record by record ID in a workflow

Posted on by 25

I use the Clone Record tool from msdyncrmWorkflowTools. It returns the ID of the record that was created. After I've cloned the parent record I want to copy all child records. There is a tool called Clone Children but it requires a target URL, not the Record ID.

How can I handle this?

It looks like this: <https://companyname.crm4.dynamics.com/main.aspx?etc=3&extraqs=formid%3d8d37d66d-6706-43fb-b451-7fb0446f13b9&id=%7be0397344-029c-e911-a98b-000d3a44bf07%7d&pagetype=entityrecord> And I also tried without <>. This tool - It just don't work. I tried on a different entity and also tried to clone children from one existing record to another - no use.

    Hi,

You need to use the get record URL dynamic in order to pass this to the other workflow utility.

The below link tells you how to do it.

    Hi Andrey,

You could reconstruct the target URL by using the URL from the 'Email a Link' action on a selected record and replace the ID with the ID from the cloned record.
