Hi all
I can't seem to create a task from Dynamics 365 App for Outlook. It appears the "Activity Status" field is locked, mandatory and blank. That means I can't save the task. When I hover over the "X" icon, it gives me the term "YT".
What does that mean and why is this error happening? I tried creating a task in Dynamics 365 and the Activity Status field still has a "X" on it but the field is set with "open" so I could still create and save the activity.
I really need help on this one.

Brian Mather's solution fixed my problem.
I know that the original message is almost two years old, but I've had the same issue today.
This happen due to a Business Rule on Task form, likely set by some unknown Project Service solution.
Hello all,
I'm having this issue with a customer. I tried deactivating the "Information" form suggested by Brian above, but I got an error saying that form could not be deactivated (or deleted). And there is not a business rule for the Task entity as mentioned by David.
Please help!

Hi Mike,
I had heard of this issue as well in another instance and decided to investigate. I noticed if you go to your default solution > task entity > business rule, there is a business rule called "Enter rule name" that I know I did not create. It's an if condition of "If activity status == activity status then Set Activity Status as "business required" and "show error message yt."
Try deactivating this business rule to see if that helps.
Creating a task from within the Dynamics 365 app for outlook does not make sense, as you cannot track/ or set regarding lookup for a task with dynamics 365.
Please refer to the below link that highlights that tasks cannot be tracked.

Thanks.
Still no luck for me
Really starting to get on my nerves
I would have thought an automated unit test would have been performed before it was released
Hi all,
Microsoft support has solved this one for me. It appears there is an 'old' form against the Task entity called 'Information' which should not be there.
Go to Settings > Customisation > Customise the System and choose Entities (expand) Tasks (expand) > Forms (select)
1. Tasks (expand) Forms (select)
2. Forms (select)
3. Click the tick mark next to the "Information" form (do not open the form editor).
4. From the button bar above choose "Deactivate
5. Click Publish All Customisations at the top.
You should be able to add a task in the app now!
Still no solution to this it seems. I cannot believe that we are the only people experiencing this problem. I'm not sure why this is not addressed by Microsoft yet.
I have the exact same problem
its driving me nuts
