Hi,

I have successfully applied SP 4.0 on GP 9.0 test environment however in production GP 9.0 is installed on Microsoft terminal server environment.

How different is service pack installation on a standard server vs Microsoft terminal server.

Regards

Vincent

    Vincent,

In a terminal server environment, I have always found that it is best to go through Add/Remove programs to install all services packs and software, this way it is applied for all users.  If you are not familiar with this method, let me know the version of Windows Server you are running and I can provide more detailed instructions.

    Vincent,

Go to the Control Panel and click on Add/Remove Programs

Cick the button on the left of the program list that says Add New Program

Click on the CD/Floppy button at the top of the next window

When the wizard opens, click the next button

Type in the UNC path to the service pack, or click the browse button to find it (You may have to change the file type selection in order to see your service pack).

Once you have it, select it and click the finish button in the wizard and follow the rest of the prompts

You may be asked to restart your server, depending.  From there you can open GP Utilities and upgrade the db's.

    Vincent,

    You're quite welcome.

I'm sure you know, but I thought I would point out that all users should be logged off of the Terminal Server, NOT disconnected.  Also, you may want to run the "Clear Activity" script on the SQL Server to make sure there are no stuck users or processes.  In the past, I have run into situations where the user did not log off of the TS properly and there were processes on the SQL still trying to run.
