Guidance to get started as an Integrator

We have a need to understand how to import existing data and export data with our Guides environment, ideally with as little manual interaction as possible. This seems possible, but we are having issues trying to figure out where to start to understand what this process would look like and what is needed. Is there any documentation around accessing the data stored on the server via some programmatic process, specifically for Guides? The current web interface appears to obfuscate the information in a way the older interface did not. For example, I cannot figure out how to easily access the JSON for a given Guide, and if I want to download assets from my library in order to back things up, I have to do it manually.

Any guidance here would be helpful. Thank you!

    Andrew,

Lets start with the fact the backend of Guides is a PowerApp and what I am about to describe is (1) its been a while since I dove this deep, (2) I have only lightly tested, and (3) its lite on official Microsoft documentation.

I believe you have to have administrative access moving forward as an FYI.

If you start by going into your Power Platform Admin Center and find your Guides Environment. This will take you to the screen which has more information regarding the Guides environment. On the "Details" panel specifically click on "See All". This will open a left side pop out panel where your "Environment URL" will be listed. Click on your "Environment URL". [FYI, i have not found this documented ]GuidesEnvironment.JPG

This should open a new tab in a power apps, revealing the backend of your Guides that you have created. From here you can select a specific Guide and delve into it.ActiveGuide.JPG

Here is were my testing get's lite because I have not tested this area a lot. You can create & adjust steps right from here, it offers Word templates, it has flows. I believe this where your integration stuff starts.

I hope you will share what you learn back in the forum

Thank you Ken, this is helpful. I visited the forums specifically because, as you noted, a lot of this seems to be undocumented. I do have administration privileges on an experimental environment and I will be taking a deeper look into this. Ideally I will do a write up and a blog about what I find in order to help others.

I appreciate your additional information and I'm aware of the portal view you have shared, but this doesn't provide me access to the actual tables or ways to edit the data without doing it by hand. However it gives me a place to start and not being familiar with power apps it seems like I need to start by looking into flows and power apps in more detail.

    Andrew,

We are getting closer. On the Active Guides screen, on the far right just after "Import from Excel" there is "Create View". This opened a backend SQL window. This might be what you are looking for.
