GDPR For D365 FO Data transfer

Hello, everyone!

Could you provide some information about data transfer in frames of GDPR.
I'll elaborate. Let's suppose we work in the EU. We have production environment with database filled with customer personal data. We have a developer, located outside of EU. We need to provide our developer with data from production environment so he can use it, for example, for test purposes. Main question here is next: what are the possible ways to give our production data to developer and not violate GDPR.

Thank you!

p.s. I'd like to know what is the answer to this question in frames of ax 2012, ax 9 too.

You need to scramble all personal data in the database. Basically you first have to identify all tables / columns where personal data exists, and then create a SQL script to replace those values with something else. Then create a copy of your database, use the SQL script, export the database, and provide it to the developer.

The most important places to look would be the tables related to DirPartyTable, DirPerson, LogisticsLocation, LogisticsPostalAddress and LogisticsElectronicAddress. But this is definetely not a complete list.

I think you should also review with your customer that you have covered all tables.

You can not provide such data without violating GDPR. You need to update the data and  use <PII:****>  Similar word to replace the actual customer data.

There are also existing tools for this purpose, such as Redgate Data Masker (which is quite expensive; I haven't even tried it yet).

It would be interesting to hear if somebody is using such 3rd party tools (instead of custom scripts).
