I need help with custom P&L using Smart List / Excel Report Builder

We want to custom the standard P&L statment report in GP 10 (grouping /sorting & sub-totaling accounts). I was thinking the best way would be  using the Smartlist builder/ Excel Report Builder to accomplish this. Are there any pre-formatted P&L templates we can use and modify in Excel Report Builder?  Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

    For this sort of stuff, you really can't beat the power of FRx. Have you considered?

    I would second Ian's suggestion.  My personal experience is that with an hour of training FRx would be significantly easier to use for financial statements than the effort of writing custom SQL code to create the reports needed with SmartList Builder or Excel.

    Victoria's correct. You will do more in FRx, much more easily than XL. The basics of FRx are really very easy. It gets a bit complicated (and the help of a consultant can avoid a lot of pain) when you get into reporting trees etc.

    If you can stretch to it, get outside help to create an initial reporting pack...and then use those building blocks to create your own reports. I've yet to see a situation where FRx could not produce financial reports in the required format, including consolidating elements from many different companies, in multiple currencies, with different financial years etc etc.
