Why do we see an Assets and Locations tab on an account form in Dynamics 365 for sales enterprise?

After Wave 2 2020 deployed we see an Assets and Locations tab on the account form?  What is the purpose of this tab?  It looks to be more something for field service but this client only has sales enterprise app.

I just had this problem occur with the 2022 release wave 2. At least I suspect that it is caused by the release.

It's a real pain because you cannot delete the tab on the Account form. There is an "Account Name" field which is locked to the form that cannot be unlocked. The solution is to move the locked field to another tab and hide it. Then you can delete the Assets and Locations tab. The environment was installed as a Dynamics 365 Sales Enterprise ONLY. The customer is NOT using field service and it is not installed. This should not occur. I'm having the same problem on other customers.

They are really tired of having to contact me every time there is a new release and this tab pops up again.

    Hi Debbie,

The reason why we see Assets and Location tab on Sales Enterprise, is that the entity Account it's the same entity in Sales and Field Services, so both the apps will merge their customisations on the common form. Unfortunately we don't have any documentation related to this, but Product Team is working to update public face documentation.

Feel free to contact me back if you have any doubt for the above explanation

Thanks Sara, maybe a way of just attaching other addresses instead of creating child accounts with different addresses but I could not find out why this new tab just appeared with the most recent wave 2 update.

    Hi Debbie,

I've done some research internally, and as I was not able to find any official documentation regarding your question, I've engaged with Sales App Product Team, and request assistance to help answer you. I'm now waiting for their feedback, and will get back to you as soon as I have details to share.
