Exchange rate : transaction amount is 0

Dears,

When checking the journal of the account 6751100 for May we can see an amount in the accounting currency only without any reference to the transaction amount.

Is this normal? does anyone have an explanation of this behavior.

    Hi Kaled,

    This is correct for exchange adjustments. The transaction amount in foreign currency does not change; only the value of that amount in local currency.

    Thank you.

    You mean because this local amount is resulting/generated from another amount, therefore is will not have a transaction amount.

    For example, a local amount= 1,000 LBP does not have a transaction amount =1$; however, the transaction amount might be equal to 10,000$.

    Is this right?

    Hi Kaled,

    It is just a change in the local value, If you have an accounting currency LBP and the invoice currency USD, then an invoice might be posted like this:

    USD 1000  > LBP  100   (I don't know the actual rates, but let;s assume USD 100 = LBP 10)

    When the exchange rate changes to USD 100 = LBP 15 then the open balance value should be changed using the exchange adjustment. In that case the USD value is not changing; only the LBP. So the transation will be posted as:

    USD 0       > LBP 50.

    In total the ledger and vendor transaction is:

    USD 1000 > LBP 150
