Connection to the MAPI server not available

Posted on by 3,815

Server is 2008 R2 64-bit.  Office 2010 64-bit Outlook is installed.  Email works fine.  In Dynamics GP 2013 go to setup  Company Email Message Setup and get the MAPI error.  I do have a mail profile setup (as Outlook works).  I do have the setting in Outlook that Outlook is the default program for e-mail.  We already own and installed Office 2010 64-bit so we're not about to uninstall all clients and put 32-bit Office on it (that's a crazy workaround).

If Dynamics is "Microsoft Dynamics" and this is the latest version, why the heck does it not function with Exchange and Outlook?  I'm dumbfounded once again by this product.  You removed FRx so we went 64bit.  Now this?

I'd like to note an error I fixed on my end. This error was coming up RIGHT after setting up a user for E-Mailing off a Terminal Server. I couldn't get any configuration to work. Then it dawned on me that we setup the user's email while GP was still open. I told the user to log out of GP, then back into GP. Guess what? It worked with no problem! So, if you have setup email (for the first time) make sure you have your user exit GP first and after they log back in, they should be fine.

    two items to look at:

    1)   Exchange – This option requires use of the Microsoft Exchange Auto Discover Service, which must be operational on the local network.  If you have the 64-bit version of Microsoft Office installed, you must use this option and have the Microsoft Exchange Auto Discover Service enabled in order to email documents from within Microsoft Dynamics GP.

    2) Change System Settings - Email Preferences to MAPI.

    All,

Outlook X64 is supported with Dynamics GP 2013, but you must choose the Exchange option (Tools > Setup > System > System Preferences:  Email Preferences).  If you are unable to get this working, I'd suggest contacting support.

    Thanks

Jivtesh Singh posted about having to use the 32 bit version of Office. You can read his post here ==> Connection to the MAPI server not available in Dynamics GP.

    Hope this helps,

Did you receive an answer on this?  I am experiencing the same issue on a new GP2013 install.  Any help is much appreciated!
