Can anyone explain when I do the Transaction -> Return Transaction -> Gp not showing the receipt? There is a quantity of 1 in stock. There are no sales commitments or allocated stock. I can return this I am right? (See the attached pic)

Jut to add Mahmoud valuable suggestions, the other option will be booking the return through Return Management under field service.
Field Service > Transactions > Returns Management > RTV Entry/Update
By doing this one transaction which will affect the inventory as well as returning to the vendor. So it has some audit trial code for future purpose.

This means that the system is telling you that the receipt you picked is already consumed, you can post a return from another receipt in case you had any.
If you don't want to go through such complications, you can do the return manually by posting two separate transactions, the first one is adjustment entry to correct the inventory balance, and the other transaction is an AP credit memo to correct the vendor balance.

What is the type of the original receipt that you are trying to return? is it shipment or shipment and invoice ?
On the return transaction window, choose another "type", which is Inventory with Credit
