    Hello Muhammad,

On the MS Appsource you can search for steel manufacturing addons

I did an initial search here:

    appsource.microsoft.com/.../

In my home country there was also a specialized ISV solution offered by a partner that was recently bought by avanade.

I found only their German website (www.avanade.com/.../steel-and-metal) with their 'metails' solution.

Maybe try to get into contact with them to get more information in English language.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

    Hi Ali Awan,

I have done couple of implementation in steel manufacturing companies in Middle east region.  For sure you have to go for process manufacturing but there are some processes that you have to customize specially the cutting processs.  Before we go in details, Can you please share some information, If i ask on high level, Do you receive steel bars/sheet/plates and cut them as per customer requirement or you bascially want to produce flat steel sheets and form them into various shapes by hot rolling then drilling, welding, Coating etc.

Going for ISV solution is defintely an option but that depends on your budget and there are other couple of factors but most importantly what kind of flat steel products you are dealing in your business and then decide accordingly.

I can refer to you a partner in asia (Pakistan), they have extensive experience in steel manufacturing sector:

    Dear Junaid,

    so nice of you.

we purchase Hot rolled coils, pickle them, reduce thickness major quantity is annealed and after that both type of products cut into baby coils and then packed and sell.

hope that i have cleared you as you already have very good understanding.

    Good morning Ali Awan,

I think trying to use the standard application is a good approach. Yet, when it comes to the costing part about the steel production things can get really tricky. I would thus recommend having at least a brief look at the available ISV solutions in order to avoid a lot of pitfalls.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

    Hi Ali,

In nutshell, if i define the process on high level, it will be as follows:

Main Raw Material: Hot Rolled Coils

    Operation 1: Pickling

    Operation 2: forming

    Operation 3: Cutting

    Finished Good: Baby Coil

    Dimension:

Size: (300 mm to 1500 mm)

    Thickness: (0.03 mm 10 mm)

    Grade: xyz

    Brand: zyz

As first step, I suggest to create a high level requirement scope document which should contain (main Raw materials, Semi-finished/Finished Goods, Main Operations, Direct cost element, In-Direct Cost element, leftovers, recycling & waste processes) and create a flow diagram like what is input and output and give it to ISV solution provider and request them for POC session so that you can evaluate exactly what are the major Fit/Gaps and then proceed with your decision accordingly.
