SL2011 SP2 - Favorites Bug?

Posted on by 475

Hello Microsoft,

When I save a screen as a favorite and then click on it, it sometimes disappears from the Favorites List.  I then have to add it again as a favorite to bring it back and then the cycle repeats (most of the time).  I think it might be a bug.  Am I right?

Thanks,

Luis Brenes

Hi Santosh, So far, the issue is not resolved. Instead, I decided to take a different approach and create a custom menu with only her "Favorite" screens so the user would not have to worry about them disappearing anymore. I plan to show her and think this will resolve her concerns. Thanks again for your original suggestion! Regards, Luis Brenes Brittenford Systems

    Hello Santosh,

Thank you for your reply.  I will check into it.  I have not encountered an issue with Favorites when files are stored locally.  However, in our Client's case where this happens, they use twin-Citrix Servers for load-balancing and modified their Solomon.INI to store user files/settings profiles on a separate Server.  I may need to wipe that and have it recreated.  I will report back how it goes.

    Thanks again,

    -Luis

    Hi

One of our client is currently using SL2011-SP2 and they didn't face this issue yet.  I don't think it is not a product bug. The problem may be  from Favorites XML file corruption.

Whenever you include the screens to Favorites, the system will store the screen information in XML file under the current user's Appdata folder. Please see the XML file path for reference purpose. So Please check this point of view and let me know you need further information.

    Example Path:

    C:\Users\Santhosh\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft Dynamics SL\MenuCache\SYSADMINSANTHOSH_SQLEXPRESSSLDEMOSYSTEMFavorites.xml

    Hope this helps

    Thanks
