Universal print and Business Central OnPrem (User Name login)

Hello to all,

We have one client which has:

  • BC OnPrem Environment  - Full 120 License
  • Login type: User Name

They want to use Universal Print service.
I logged in with USER1, and setup Universal print. (Register app etc....)

Universal print is set up ONLY for that USER1, and it's works fine.

But when we try to log in with a different USER2, we get a notification:

How to add a Universal print license to USER2. If that it's a problem.
But my real question is - What is the problem here?

p.s: in this video ErikHougaard, says it works with BC OnPrem environment also:

    Hello,

During Universal Print setup within BC, it will be required to give consent to the Azure AD service:

learn.microsoft.com/.../ui-specify-printer-selection-reports (see the second important note).

This is where you provide consent to the Azure AD service using an Azure AD user account that has a license and can connect to the printer.

Note that Microsoft recommends using Azure AD authentication with MFA enabled.

    Hope it helps.

    Hi,

If I can share printer only with AAD users, that means NavUserPassword users from Business Central - can't access it?

    Hello,

Is user2 a guest user in the Azure AD org? Sharing printers is described here:

    learn.microsoft.com/.../share-printers

If the user does not show up when you search for it, it is not possible to share.

Is it possible to share a printer with users which are not in the organization?

    If it is possible, how?

Hi, if you have followed the documentation exactly and it hasn't solved the problem, I suggest you raise a support ticket with Microsoft through your partner.

    Thanks.

    Hello,

It's already set up with Nav User Password. Yes is supported, but only one user per shared printer. How to connect other user with the same printer (we have free license)

    thanks in advance

    Hello,

    The requirements are listed here:

    learn.microsoft.com/.../ui-specify-printer-selection-reports

For authentication we support Azure AD authentication and NavUserPassword. UserName is not listed so you should not try to configure it with this authentication type.

    Thank you.

It's possible to connect local users with a Universal Print license -  because I think that it is an issue.
