New fields in report extension only available for extension layouts ?

Hello,
 
I'm Bithaving trouble wrapping my head around Report Extensions...
 
I want to expose another field from the source table. Something like this : 
 
 
But after publishing this and then exporting a layout, I don't see the new field in the XML, the extension is ignored.
 
The only way I was able to see the new field was to add a rendering section and mention a new layout file. The layout file would be created blank and that file would show the new field in the XML mapping.
 
Is there anyway I can have the field in existing layouts ?

    Yes, you need to select the existing layout and then update it. You can do this either in the Custom Report Layouts Page or in the Report Layouts page, depending on which one you're using.

    Thank you for the answer Valentin but I don't have that button. I looked into personalize just in case but it's not there either.

    EDIT : Nevermind, I realized it was added in the last major update and I was working in an out of date sandbox ! Thank you Valentin,
