Question on new Portal Licensing vs the free portal provided by Dynamics

Hi all,

Quick question on the new portal pricing. So obviously we now have PowerApps Portal which is a capacity based model of logins and views but what of customers who have an existing "free" Dynamics 365 portal.

Previously if you had 4 Dynamics licenses you get a portal for free. Now I'm confused on whether we'll still get the free portal or will Microsoft eventually transition that over to a capacity based model also and charge us for logins and views. If so when is that transition happening? When will they enforce it?

Obviously I'd like to keep using the free portal as long as possible but it would be good to know when they'll most likely enforce this change. I've searched online and only found the differences between the two licensing models and nothing on what Microsoft is planning to do with the two licensing models.

Kind regards,

Mike

    Hi Partner,

This blog provided more detail about difference between D365 portal pricing and Power apps portal pricing.

    https://crmbusiness.wordpress.com/2020/01/24/understanding-power-portals-pricing-and-how-it-differs-from-dynamics-portals/

As you said, Microsoft has not yet announced when it will merge the 2 Portal, but now in Online version D365, we could not configure or create new portal any more, we need to go to https://make.powerapps.com/ to create new portal.

For more information, I suggest that you could contact with Microsoft Sales.

And here's also a guide for you.

    Thanks dude.

I understand the difference but the main question is whether Microsoft will force us to start paying for portal eventually where as previously we got 1 free portal with Dynamics.

I have a inkling that they will but for now we'll still use the old portal that we've provisioned until they force us to switch over.

    Hi Mike,

We have no information about that at this time, please contact with Microsoft Sales for more details.
