Customer Retentions

Hi,

I am trying to set up customer retentions when billing in Projects but when I post an invoice I get an error message saying the project category is missing. I can see that a fee journal is created and that the category field is blank. Does anyone know how I can set the category to default into the journal?

Hi Alan,  You need to create a category with transaction type fee.  On fee categories, an additional field is shown on the 'Project' fast tab called 'Customer payment retention'.  Mark that and the fee journal will use that category by default.  You can I think only select one category with this field.

    Hi,

Thanks for this finding as this was not mentionned anywhere on TechNet.

I created that category and 2 thigs:

    1) It disappeared from Project category list, so when i  process the invoice, i still get the same error 'Category does not exists'

    2) When i manually create a fee journal is gave me this error

'Registration of fee cannot use categories set up as estimate, subscription fee and customer retention.'

The customer retention category is only used in the system by the project invoicing process. You cannot enter a fee journal transaction entry using this Category ID.

The customer retention amount is determined when creating the invoice proposals and the appropriate backing journal entry is posted.

This category Id should not be disappearing from the list of categories.
