Error when running custom reports: Error Accessing SQL Data

Posted on by 2,119

Hello,

We just upgraded to GP 10.0 from version 9.0. Today our users encountered an error when running custom report for Historical Orders. Custom report for Open Orders can be ran just fine.

However when I try to run the Historical Orders custom report using SA login, I can run it just fine. Could this be a permission issue? If yes, how to modify it in the reports?

I tried re-importing the reports to each user but that didn't help. I also deleted the REPORTS.DIC file and re-imported, and didn't help either.

Could someone please help me on this issue? Thanks in advanced for your help!

Richard, thank you and sorry for the late reply.

Yes for some reason certain User Security works on the Custom History report, while others don't. I'm trying to find the difference between these User Securities (I don't think there's any though).

Thank you very much for your help in this!

Version 10 has a completely different security system from V9.  Your statement that sa can run the reports leads me to think that it is a security issue.

Under Administration, under Setup/System, open the Alternate/Modified Forms and Reports.  This defines groups of permissions that can be assigned to users.  If you converted security, you may have one group for each original user.  Most firms use the DEFAULTUSER group for everyone.  Only one of those, the DEFAULTUSER or the user specific group may need to be edited to include the report.

Pick a user and look under User Security and see which Alternate/Modified Forms and Reports group is assigned to the user.  Open that group in the A/MFR and edit it to give the user permission to the reports.

    Let us know what happens.

For more information on how the V10 Security system works, you may want to get a copy of our Dynamics GP Security Handbook.  Check our web site at http://www.AccoladePublications.com and browse into the Library.
