error: 80040154 loading tax tables on GP2010RTMCoreMR VPC

I'm getting the following error when trying to load payroll tax tables (automatic or manual) on the GP2010RTMCoreMR VPC image:

VB error found: Retrieving the COM class factory for component with class CLSID {} failed due to the following error: 80040154

Does anyone know the cause of this error or how to get around it?

 Thanks

I just ran into this error too. It happens when running GP on Windows 7.  Right click on GP and run as Administrator to get around the error.

I am getting this error even when running as Administrator. Are there any other solutions?

I'm assuming you have closed GP and the launched GP again by right-clicking on the GP icon and selecting run as administrator.  If that doesn't work, try turning off the UAC and running it again.  It is having a problem launching the tax update engine.

Yes, and I'm also logged on as Administrator.  UAC is not running. This is on a Windows 2008 server.

    Hi Warren,

This error is wide spread in the VS Tools world. Here is a post over on another forum that might get you started. I'm not sure which dll needs to be registered, or you might have some .dlls missing. I wish I could point you to the right one. Let the treasure hunt begin!

I last updated the taxes from the server in July. This is due to a Microsoft update or the GP end of year update - the only software that runs on this server. To get around the error I simply installed a new GP client on my laptop. I still think it's weird, and disappointing that updates are released when they break existing code.
