Source Campaign assigned in Lead doesn't not show up when I click on Campaign

When I create a new Lead and assign source campaign and click on campaign link the record does not show up but if I assign the campaign though marketing list it does show up.  I am wondering if we can show the source campaign when user clicks on Campaign link.

This is really strange behavior I have never seen.  Can you confirm that when you click on the Source Campaign hyperlink on the Lead that CRM is doing nothing?  It is not opening up the Campaign?  Can you tell me the steps your are going through to assign the Campaign through the marketing list?

    Hi,

Our marketing has this issue. For ex they enter user A as a Lead with source campaign "Test X" . They conduct an event and the same user A comes as a Lead with different source campaign "Test Y". When they merger the 2 records they will select one source campaign but they want to see the old one when they select campaign.. What I saw is that the new source campaign overrides the other one and there is no way to see the old one. I thought all this is stored in campaign but it is not.

This is what i did. Iam just learning CRM.

    Sales:

I created a Lead and clicked on the lookup button next to source campaign and selected a campaign from the list and saved. On the left panel I saw the campaign link and clicked on that link. I thought i would see the campaign that i just selected for the lead but it didn't show up.

    Another scenario

    Marketing:

I clicked on campaign link on the left panel. Selected  campaign and it opened the details for the campaign. Clicked on Target marketing List and selected a list and this opened the details of the marketing list. Clicked on Manage Members and added a lead and saved.

If i go back to leads and select the lead and click on campaign link on the left side it shows the campaign i just added.

    Hi Rajitha,

I see--thank you for the explanation.  The Campaigns area on the left navigation shows only the CURRENT campaigns where the lead is listed on a STATIC Marketing List.  Because it does not show Campaigns related to DYNAMIC Marketing Lists, and since leads can easily be removed from Marketing Lists, I would not recommend using this as a reliable source for tracking the campaigns.

The Source Campaign is a good field to fill out, but it can only point to ONE Campaign.  Therefore, if you want to track MULTIPLE sources, I would recommend creating a Campaign Response for each new Lead.  In this way if you merge two leads, the two Campaign Responses will still show in the Activities.  The Source Campaign will only show the value from the primary record that was selected when you merge.

You can automatically create a Campaign Response when the Source Campaign is filled out using a workflow.

    Hi Gretchen,

Thanks for the suggestion. I created  a workflow to create Campaign Response when Source Campaign is selected. If I go to Marketing-Campaign and select the Campaign i see the Campaign response record but if I go to Sales and select the lead and click on Campaign link the form comes out blank. I am not able to figure out why here is not showing the record. I appreciate your help.

    Thanks

    Rajitha

    Hi Rajitha,

The Campaign Responses do not show under Campaigns. They are activities, so they show under Activities or Closed Activities when they are closed.

    Hi Gretchen,

I am missing something I guess. I changed my workflow from Campaign Response to Campaign Activity. I see from Marketing - Campains - select the campaign and go to Campaign Activites or Campaign response i could see the records but if i go to Sales - select the lead and click on Activites/Campains I don't see the record.

Hmmm...you should not be creating Campaign Activities with the workflow--only Campaign Responses.  You should make sure you are filling in the Customer field on the Campaign Response with the Lead.  Can you verify?

    Hi,

I think its becos of the Customer field it is not showing up. We don't have Customer field in Lead entity to map in workflow.

You should map the Lead (e.g. Lead ID) to the Customer field on the Campaign Response.
