number sequence generation

Hi All,

In our current system we have around 850+ legal entities.

During number sequence initialization, process is taking a significant time ( sometimes it does not get work too).

While code debug, insert method called is for different tables and it seems , system is working on initialization of different number sequences.

we have added only one customized number sequence for D 365 application.

would like to know how much is average expected number sequence generation process for 850+ legal entities.

    Hi Neetu,

    When you have this number of legal entities, the generation wizard might take too much of your hardware resources. It is trying to propose a number sequence per reference per legal entity if it doesn't exist yet. Personally, I don't like to use this wizard for production purposes as you should review the best settings for your business. (E.g. the use of prefixes and number of decimals for the sequence.) The wizard is also creating some sequences where it could generate duplicate voucher numbers (e.g. invoices and credit notes).

    I'm working on a customer where they have over 2500 legal entities. At this customer we are using some tools to duplicate several data like number sequences from a template company. There are some template companies based on the purpose of the company and the country.

    Very much thankful for quick response.

    does this means, one of suitable option is to import initialized number sequence from another system?

    Since native number sequence wizard runs across companies, processing time is enormous.

    Is it possible to generate based on one legal entity? Also customized number sequence , can we use some template to initialize?

    Hi Neetu,

    At my customer, we used an add-on (AX2012) to be able to copy the data as at that time Data Import Export Framework was not part of the standard product. Using the standard data management option has a downside that you have to manage the company scope per legal entity manually. Probably a small customization would help you here.
