Payroll & Payroll Tax Software

All, we use Dynamics GP and are considering switching from outsourcing payroll to running payroll in-house and wanted to get everyone's opinions on:

1. How good is the GP's payroll module? Is it able to handle multi-state, off-cycle processing, garnishments, etc. Or would you recommend integrating an external payroll solution like Namely, Zenefits, etc.

2. From an initial comparison, it seems the cost to running payroll in-house will be much lower than outsourcing, has anyone gone through a similar conversion and can give a rough estimate of the savings?

3. What is the process to converting payroll in-house? What are the potential complications that we should take into consideration.

4. What solutions should we use to run payroll taxes?

Thank you in advance!

RE: Payroll & Payroll Tax Software

GP payroll is a rock-solid solution. Multi-state and garnishments are not an issue. The biggest question is the payroll liability. As long as your staff is confident in keeping up to date with the IRS and making payroll tax payments on time GP is a good solution.

RE: Payroll & Payroll Tax Software

This software is absolute bliss for small businesses. Since I started my company in the UK, I have been using this one from https://www.payrollindex.com. Given that I have experience with both a hired accountant and this software, I can say that the software beats the accountant tenfold. It still needs to be checked from time to time for errors, but I definitely can live with that. All the calculations are precise, and mistakes occur very rarely.
