Hi Expert,

In Case entity when I select contact from contact lookup on Save I get this error

"The specified contact doesn't belong to the account selected as the customer. Specify a contact that belongs to the selected account, and then try again."

How to solve this issue is there anything that I am missing I am using OOB Case and Contact and Account entity in CRM 2015.

Thanks

I know this is a very old post, but i had a similar problem and resolved it now. Hope this helps someone.

During case creation i have selected an Customer/Account 'A' and i have selected Contact 'B1' who is from a different account. Landed up in above error.

Once i selected the contact from 'A' acount, this got resolved.

Is there a relationship between the selected Contact and Account?

If you navigate to your Contact Entity does it have the Parent Customer showing the Account record, or if you navigate to the Account Entity, does it show in the list of Contacts the contact that you have selected in the case entity?

    Hi there.

    Simple answer:

Your selected contact is not related to the account.

The standard contact field has no filter functionality to show you only contacts related to the selected account.

Please add such filter and your confusion has an end.

    Kind regards,

    Karsten

    Hello Folks,

    Important Update!!!

There are business cases, where you should be able to create a case where the contact is not really related to the selected account.

Microsoft has published a way of turning this validation off, see below:
