My users have remote access & we have told them not to use Great Plains while using the VPN. Just had a user do this and messed up a posting. Is there a way that I can prevent my users from acessing Great Plains while VPN'd in?

You could be a real B.O.F.H. and just block vpn access to the GP SQL Server.
I would recommend going with Citrix and have published applications for just those applicaitons they are allowed to use.
I can't think of any easy way to prevent GP users from working when using the VPN connection. I do believe that such a design may cost a lot in terms of the quality of data.
Here's a very thorough and comprehensive justification on why such a design is not supported; Why can't I run Microsoft Dynamics GP via ODBC over a WAN?
Hope someone else has any enlightenment on this.
Unfortunately, that's not how things are set up here today. Everyone has the software installed on their local machines.
Consider a terminal server design, so that Dynamics GP users will connect remotely to the application, which is installed on the terminal server with all the processes being handled on it. In this essence, the users will not have GP installed on their workstations, and data will not be transmitted through the connection, only mouse clicks and keystrokes will be transmitted. All in all, you will be just fine even if they are using the VPN connection.
