We closed 2013 payroll records and now we are trying to process our first payroll for 2014 dated 1/3/14 and we keep getting message that says we have not closed the year. any suggestons?

Sorry, I meant single click on the date in the bottom left corner. The system wants you to be in 2014 to cut checks. I think that should solve your problem.
Change your system date (bottom left corner of GP). Double click on the date and it will bring up a calendar. Change it to 1/1/2014. Then try it.
