Hello,

For one of my client's we have been showing some important information like Location Code, Branch Code where he/ she is logged onto directly on the Main Menu Form. (This functionality is specific to this customer and not standard). With the introduction of Role Tailored Client with NAV 2009, it is not further possible to provide the similar functionality using Role Center Pages.

One of the possible solution is to customize the Pages where this information is required but then this is not the desired solution. On the other hand I was wondering if there is a way to put this information either on the Status Bar or Title Bar of the Role Tailored Client?

Please let me know in case there is some possible solution.

Rgds,

Sid.

Hi Sid, Client Side Automation can be one of the ways to achieve this.

    Short summary steps:

    a) Use the User32.dll to get a handle to the current window. You can wrap this in C#

    b) Then in C# you can instantiate a Control Class from a handleptr. This control class will your mainwindow then.

    C) Once you have access to the main window you can dynamically go and access anything you want and add your custom label to it.

I tried it and it works :)

    Happy Coding....

Thanks Robroy for the pointer. I shall try and will let you know in case I have some specific questions. But can I also call some event within NAV using Client Side Automation because I was wondering if I am able to change the location directly from the status bar like it is possible to change the work date in RoleTailored Client. Cleint Side automation does not support events as of now. So if you change the location you have to get the information back into Navision through some other route.

e.g. WebServices maybe. Not the most elegant solution. You need to think about session synchronization then.
