Ok so I'm using the user defined fields in AA  trx dimensions  codes-

I use numeric to enter the dollar amounts of  grants and it has  5 places after the decimal point, naturally  I want to have two places after the decimal point, so i contat GP support and they tell me I have to pay for "modifier" so that I can modify the decimal places-

is this accurate?

I mean what kind of racket do they have going on? who uses   5 places after the deimal point?

    Dear,

If you have Manufacturing concern you definetly need to 5 decimals for costing purpose. and you can fetch reports with out decimal/rounding.

Modifier will solve your issue by change field format type, in Decimal you can control number of digits you wish to use.

But, other issue here that if you need to increase length of this field to be 13 instead of 12.... is it available ?

    Hi Ehab,

Actually, 5 decimals are Always stored in the database, Modifier is only going to allow you to change the format, it's not going to let you change the data type. All currency fields need a keyable length of 5 just to get through the decimals, so a keyable length of 12 gets you 7 characters to the left of the decimal and that's it. So your maximum number is 9,999,999.99999.

    Kind regards

    Leslie

    Hi jp,

I see this post is 7 years old. These days you do not have to purchase Modifier, but Modifier wouldn't have helped you anyway. All currency fields are stored with 5 decimal places. Therefore, the first 5 characters of your 12 character keyable length are decimal places. Ergo, you can have a maximum value in this field of 9,999,999.99999. The format will change only the display, it will not buy you more keyable length.

    Kind regards,

    Leslie

    Hi Leslie,

yes you are right, in JP case Modifier can help to control decimal display in GP used window where end user can see his desired format which is two decimal only but it doesn't change stored currency in database.
