Migrating SBF 9 to GP 2010

Posted on by

Hi Everyone,

I have a client who wiould like to Migrate their SBF 9 to GP 2010, and i would like to prepare.

From what i have read online, there is an upgrade path from SBF 9 to GP 9, but is there a direct path from SBF 9 to GP 2010? If so, is there a migration tool available for this? I have only found a migration tool for SBF 9 to GP 9.
Also, if anyone has performed the the migration from SBF9 to GP 2010 are there any common pitfalls that can be avoided?

Thanks in advance,

Ron

the upgrade path would be SBF 9 to GP 9 and then to GP 2010 and then to GP 2013. Check the actual upgrade paths for service packs and you should be fine.

Do you need registration keys for GP 9 and other intermediate GP versions to do the SBF to GP migration.

Our target is GP 2013 - from GP 9 would you recommend jumping to GP 10 or GP 2010 as the intermediate step.

You need to install Fixed Assets regargless of what the migration instruction say. The GP 2010 won't convert the 9.0 data files due to product id 309 (Fixed Assets).

    Ron,

We just did a SBF9 to GP2010.   No problems.   As Victoria indicates, just follow all the instructions.    The fastest part was SBF9 to GP9,  takes longer to go from GP9 to GP2010.

    Ron,

We just did an SBF 7.5 to GP 2010 upgrade for a customer, also went from SQL 2000 to 2008.  There is no way to go to GP 2010 directly from SBF, you have to go SBF 9 to GP 9 first.  I can't think of any pitfalls, just follow all the instructions.
