AOT connection error after deleting a field

(0) ShareShare
ReportReport
Posted on by

Error occurred when I delete a field in the Visual Studio 2010 and the deploy the solution or rebuild the solution.

Error in Visual Studio 2010: The operation failed due to an issue with connecting to AOT. The connection has now been restored. You must redo the last operation.

Please give me some advices for this problem, as I cannot found any solution in the internet for the problem.

Please explain what exactly you're doing - "delete a field in the Visual Studio 2010 " is not detailed enough. Is it related to reports, or what? Also, when and where exactly do you get the error?

Please let me change your title from "Error in Visual Studio 2010: The operation failed due to an issue with connecting to AOT. The connection has now been restored. You must redo the last operation." to something shorter and more descriptive. I'll also change the category from Manufacting to Development / Customization / SDK, because the question is obviously about development.

    Hi Martin,

Thanks for your advise. My case is when I open the SSRS report in the Visual Studio, do the "Deploy Solution" and "Rebuild Solution" before the modification, it works. But after I modify this report, the error which I mentioned has occurred. Is the problem in the DP or Tmp table? I have surf the net, but not much solution for this case. Please give me some indication on it. Thanks for your help.

Does it mean it fails already on build?

What exactly did you do in your modification?

Do you have any problems with different modifications, such as when you're developing new reports?

    Hi Martin,

When I just open the report initially and click the "Deploy Solution" or "Rebuild Solution", it works. But after I insert a field in the report or delete a field in the report, and click the "Deploy Solution" or "Rebuild Solution", error occurred. Other reports works, the error only apply in this report.

Please confirm that's a build error, not a deployment error. This will allow us to simplify the problem by ignoring deployment (which probably isn't related to it).

I'm a bit late to this thread, but I was just experiencing the same issue. While it will manifest as a build issue, the main error is a Visual Studio error that pops up anytime you try to save, build, deploy, etc:

It seemed that something was wrong with the Visual Studio project. Importing the project to other environments did not help, and other projects on the same system were not affected.

I created a new project in Visual Studio and added my report from the Application Explorer. I was then able to use the new project normally after adding it to the AOT.

Did you fix it? I am getting this on one of my environment.

I fixed this error. I had a few image in this report. An image of them was causing this error. I deleted the pictures one by one and found which one was the cause. I deleted the image and it was resolved.

I had the same issue. It looks like there is an issue with using embedded images in reports, or at least how I was doing it. I removed the images and my project saved, built and deployed without any issues.

Just running into this myself for the first time. Very frustrating issue.

For now I can only say that embedded images are *not* the only possible cause (because I don't have any in my report). To me it happens when I (routine first steps) make a copy of the design I am about to f*...modify and then try to save my report.

When I make my modifications without copying the design first, everything works fine.

I have no clue where this is coming from. This particular design was created only a few weeks ago and the report already has several copies from other designs as backup.

Tried everything I could think off, but could not make the error go away. Needless to say that this exercise has not worked miracles for my feelings towards SSRS.
