Data Migration - User Saved Views

(0) ShareShare
ReportReport
Posted on by

Morning,

We are currently migrating all our data from one Environment of Dynamics CRM to another. Both are identical

with the exception of a new environment being an unmanaged solution.

I am trying to find out which table holds the information on User Created views and the table which holds the 'Share' information of these.

Cheers

Graham

POA (principal object access) table is a table for sharing of records. The shared, assigned and re-parented or inherited records are added to this table. Basically if you try to access a record that you do not own the system will check the POA and if the permission is there then you can access the record.

Personal views created by users are not storing into SavedView entity, which normally used to store system level views.

There is another entity “UserQuery” to which these personal views are getting stored. There are tables and views available in database.

Thanks, Been looking for a table starting SystemUser. Do you know the table which holds the sharing View sharing information? Or would this be shared in the POA table mentioned above.

Hi. I you just want to export/import the user views i recommend you to use a free tool called "solution extender": solutionextender.codeplex.com

I used it with 2011 and 2013 and works perfect. Really useful and easy to use.

    Regards.

Thanks Alvaro, however as we are doing a Mass Migration using SSIS, I wanted to keep it all together, as I can build the link so the info goes across at the same time.

I just looked into the UserQuery table and only have two records, which is not correct.

    Hi,

User can't "move" his saved views from one environment to another. There is a third party product available to do the same.

    Refer the following links:

    Hope this helps.

Surely this can be done via SSIS? As I can see all the tables and data. We have an add-on from KingswaySoft, and have managed to create a routine to copy all the relevant tables and join tables. The views must be saved somewhere within the system tables.

We have 180 users across multiple sites, so asking them to move their views is far from ideal.

    Hi,

    Have you tried these Queries?

    select Name as ViewName ,

                OwnerIdName as Owner,

case statecode when 0 then 'Active'

                                           when 1 then 'Inactive'

                end as Status,

                UserQuery.Description

                from UserQuery

                where ReturnedTypeCode= #entitycode(integer)

                order by OwnerIdName, Name

    Refer the following link:

    Hope this helps.
