Dynamics CRM ApplicationRequired vs SystemRequired attributes

Hi guys,

I have been working on a tool that would analyze a target organization and give you metadata information.

One of the interesting things i came to is the required level of attributs, and my question here is: What is the difference between a ApplicationRequired and SystemRequired attributes?

I already found some info here, but it didn't really answer my question.

Thanks,

Filip

Application Required is the Business Required which we can change to Optional or Business Recommended. The System Required is a Required Field that we cannot change its Required Level.

    Hi,

It seems ApplicateRequired is used for the special field which is required by the application for example Customer field is required for the opportunity required by the application.

    docs.microsoft.com/.../opportunity

And these changes seems came in December 2012 Service Update, check this : www.magnetismsolutions.com/.../crm-2011-import-error-0x8004d293-opportunity_customer_accounts

Where as SystemRequired fields are simple which can be made as required by the user from Attributes property.

So this means that when we set a field to Business required from a solution for example, back-end takes it as ApplicationRequired field and this can be changed anytime to be optional. Whereas if it is SystemRequired it cannot be changed to optional? Am i getting this right?

    Yes that's correct.
