Word Templates using Item Notes

Hello. I have a client that prints Item Notes under their Item Description in both Purchase Orders and Sales Orders\Invoices.

I am having issues in trying to get the Note field to look correct on the printed document. It will sometimes wrap the sentence in the note in a strange place. Is there something that can be done in the word template note cell to tell the wrap to occur with the carriage return in the note itself.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

David

    Hi David,

The note is simply a text field which allows no formatting whatsoever. You can use some user-defined functions to parse the field, but I don't know any other ways (absent further programming) to control it. What kind of thing do you need it to do?

    Kind regards,

    Leslie

    Leslie,

Thanks for responding to my request. My Problem is related to how it the note will look on the Word Template document.

The previous consultant that worked with this client formatted all of their documents as "Text" to get the Note to render correctly. While they were printing to a Laser Printer, they had a Pre-Invoice that the Report Writer Modified Invoice would print on.

Since upgrading to GP 2013, we would like to use the Word Template feature to email out Invoices and other documents to customers and vendors. The problem that I am having is getting the Note Field for Items to look correct for each item. Some of the client notes are many lines long and they will wrap incorrectly.

I need a way for the notes to wrap correctly from line to line. In my template, I can adjust the width of the field that will make one item look correct while another item does not.

Any suggestions or help on this will be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

    David

Can I ask the question maybe a different way? Does anyone have any experience with the Notes Table in modifying the Notes to have carriage returns where all notes will wrap at the same point.

Also, Does anyone knows of a modification that allows an extended Item Note to be used in GP. I found one product that works with Sales Orders but not Purchase Orders. Also, the modification did not work with the Word Template Function.

Any and all help will be greatly appreciated!!!!!
