Dynamics365 Athena2 API Usage

Hello everyone,

I am currently monitoring the API usage of a Dynamics 365 Field Services environment and I noticed the Dynamics365 Athena2 Application User consuming a lot of requests every day. It's constantly doing thousands of Reads and Updates.
What I checked so far:
- Stats on a Dynamics 365 Sales environment, and Athena2 is using a lot of API calls there as well (so it isn't something specific to the FS solution)
- On Microsoft Docs it only mentions the DataLake integration, which is not enabled on this environment

Because of this usage, the functionality of the environment is affected.

Questions:
1. Do you have info on what activity is this Application User actually performing on the system?
2. Is there any recommendation on how to limit it's activity?

The exact activities performed by this user could vary. As it's a system-level application user, it's likely involved in routine data operations, like syncs, updates, and background tasks. To find out more, you would need to examine the logs or reach out to Microsoft Support for more detailed information. Limiting the Athena2 Application User's activity isn't typically recommended, as it can disrupt system-level processes. However, if you're experiencing negative impacts, it's best to contact Microsoft Support. They can provide insight into what this user is doing and if it's possible to optimize its usage without affecting system functionality. As an alternative, you may also want to explore if other non-essential activities could be optimized to free up API call capacity.  My THDHR
