Media and Entertainment Accelerator with Dynamics 365 Marketing

Hi,

I would like to understand how the Media and Entertainment Accelerator works with Dynamics 365 Marketing.  There is an overlap in functionality in that both apps have an Events module.  I assume, that since both applications leverage the Common Data Model then the common tables such as Event is the same table for both applications?

Does anyone have any experience combining these two applications into a Dynamics 365 environment?

RE: Media and Entertainment Accelerator with Dynamics 365 Marketing

An Industry Accelerator allows an organization to implement some configuration and customization items into a CRM system to save on design and build time by using commonly used tables, fields, views and relationships that are common to a specific industry. A few months ago, Microsoft added a new one for the media and entertainment industry...

RE: Media and Entertainment Accelerator with Dynamics 365 Marketing

    Thanks for your question.

Yes both the M&E Accelerator and Dynamics 365 Marketing leverage the Common Data Model. However the event management capabilities that are part of D365 Marketing and described in Plan, publicize, and collect registrations for events (Dynamics 365 Marketing) | Microsoft Docs are not sharing any of the same entities, forms, or views with what comes in the Events & Venues Management Solution within the Media & Entertainment Accelerator. The  two apps use different "event" entities with different attributes and relationships.

Firstly the M&E Accelerator doesn't require a license for D365 Marketing to deploy it, only a Power Apps license with CDM. When deployed you'll see that the event entity in the M&E Accelerator is called "msmedia_mediaevent" to distinguish it from the event entity that ships with D365 Marketing. That being said the two applications can be merged into a single environment with all of the M&E Accelerator entities having the prefix "msmedia" to tell them apart. The sample Power Portal application that ships with the M&E Accelerator Home  Â· Media Registration Portal (powerappsportals.com) is using the M&E Accelerator entities but of course it can be modified to use D365 Marketing entities as well, as can any form or view within the M&E Accelerator's sample model-driven applications.

    Hope this is helpful.
