Correct output posted on the wrong date, affecting average cost

Hi forum,

Here's a bit of a sticky situation recently encountered with production order, context below:

1.User first posted consumption and output in production order(1), realize consumption items were wrong.

1A - Reverse consumption, did not reverse output

1B - Change status to finished

2. Output applied to a sales shipment on 23/4/2023

3. User created another production order(2), to post consumption and output as a replacement. Un-apply sales and negative adjust the output from first production order.

2A - Post consumption on 23/4/2023

2B - Post output on 08/05/2023 by mistake (it was the calendar date)

The output on 08/05/2023 cannot be used as the sales happened back in April, output recorded in system was in May.

The corrective action we tried to test, but unsure of as the output item runs by average cost and the concern lies within how the unit cost changes when it is adjusted out from May and into April.

1. Produce another output with zero consumption in production order(3)

2. Revalue the output unit cost to the total cost of consumption from production order(2)

3. Apply output to sales

4. Negative adjust output from production order 1 & 2

Appreciate your time to weigh in. Thank you
