Rate by pallet in TMS

Is it possible to rate by number of pallets in the TMS rate engine?

For most of our LTL carriers, we have a flat rate per pallet.  The weight is fairly standard (ie: 4000 lbs/plt), however, the rates always seem proportional to the weight.  If the load is 4000 lbs or less, we would like to assign a flat rate of $100, if it is 10,000 lbs then it should rate at $300.

Is this possible in standard ax 2012 R3 cu12?

    Hi J-AX,

do you have a unit standard unit conversion between pieces and pallets? What is offered in the Microsoft Implementation Guide is a break master for pieces to be used for rating. Others would be volume, zones, milage, weight. If there is a standard unit conversion, you could use the pieces break master to setup the rates. However, I did not find a possibility to setup rating for pallets (also as pallets are no longer part of the new WMS and TMS and can be only setup as container or unit sequence group level).

Please let me know if you find out that the setup is possible or how you have solved it. My customers do maily use zone, weight or milage engines at the moment.

    Thanks, best regards

    Hi Thomas,

The issue is that are pallets can be mixed with a variety of items, so i'm not sure a piece conversion will work for us.  Basically, a pallet will have a maximum weight, and dimensions as set out by the carrier.  We fill the pallet with mixed items until we meet the maximum limit.

I've found a work-around for now using accessorial charges that will add a flat rate based on a weight range.  For example, if the weight is between 1-2000 lbs, a flat fee of $75 is applied.  If the weight is between 2001-4000 lbs, then apply a flat fee of $150, and so on.  It's not ideal, but it is working.  I would like to try and figure out how to configure a break master that does the same.  Right now the LTL engine uses AppWeight and I can't see to get it to use a weight range like accessorial charges do.  Is there anything that can be done in the comparison field of the break master to facilitate this?

    Thanks for your help!

    Hi Jacqueline,

my suggestion is to use the "bigger" comparision in the break master and set the breaks as you need it:

    " > 1": $ 75

    " > 2000": $ 150

    and so on...
