Creating a new record opens a new window without browser back button

We have a custom entity called Wire that has a N:1 relationship to another custom entity called Account. The wire is in a subgrid of the account. When we create a new wire via the + button or by clicking associate records view button and then the "+ Add New Wire" button a new browser window (IE and Chrome) is opened without any of the standard toolbars (e.g. back and forward buttons, address bar). This confuses a lot of users when they click a lookup field that navigates them away from the newly created wire and they don't have the back button available. I know they can use Alt + left-arrow but that is not acceptable to them. Therefore, how do I get the back button to display on the create wire form?

You can't make that "popup" window act like a main window.

As an alternative, have you considered creating a Quick Create form for the "Wire" entity, and enabling it for quick create. Then the "New" button would use the inline QC approach rather than a new window, which might make more sense for your users.

With the quick create form they will not be able to use the BPF. But, could I send them to the main/standard form instead?

You can only show the main/standard form instead of the quick create form if the entity is an activity.
