Inventory negative value

Hi Friends,

Inventory negative value issue:-

We run inventory valuation report in AX 2012 R3 and we find from some of the items (160 items) there is negative value and the quantity also in negative. First, I want to know how it has happened and another if I want to solve my passing inventory adjustment with positive quantity and with value required. What’s the impact will happen.  Actually if I do like this, then I am intentionally increasing the inventory value.

What is the solution? Can anyone please help me by resolving this issue. It's very urgent.

    Inventory transactions (InventTrans, InventTransOrigin) holds all the historical value of goods in and goods out from your warehouse. So first thing is to check what do you see there for your site/warehouse/location (whichever level you see the negative inventory).

    Hi,

    Most probably the item was setup with allow negative physical and financial inventory. Please check into item model group setup of the item.

    Before, increase the inventory stock in the system. You need to confirm the physical stock of the item stored in the warehouse. If it's 0 then you need to pass positive inventory journal / reverse the negative transactions. So the stock in the system is the same level with physical stock.

    Dear SAI NAG,

    Dynamics AX allows to make negative physical and financial transaction from setup. So if it is selected you will have negative negative value in inventory in terms of quantity and value.

    Now if you want to correct your inventory make adjustment of all the negative issue qty with actual receipt qty. It may be you have to receive on location A and you proceed with location B. So now you need to move inventory to actual location. Once you finish this you can remove allowing negative inventory in physical as well as financial from item model group setup for that item.
