Selecting a warehouse for planned orders (item coverage) possible?

Hello All

When creating a Planned Order (module: master planning) is it also possible to do this for only one specific warehouse?

When we do a planned order AX bases its calculation on all warehouses of an entity. As an entity can consist ofvarious warehouses the total quantity might be sufficient, but for one or two warehouses a order is necessary. Set up is done in inventory management on an item / setup / Item coverage.

Is there a possibility to change settings to define this minimum quantatity relevant for a planned order per warehouse and not by entity?

Thank you,

Philipp

There are two ways to achieve this effect, depending on how your inventory works.

First, if these are in fact physically distinct warehouses between which you actually transfer inventory (and ship stock between), then you can setup a warehouse relationship to represent this on the Item coverage group (under Main warehouse).  Master planning will then create Planned transfer orders between the warehouses to satisfy the demand in one from the other.  This acts to consolidate the demand from both into the "main" one.

Second, you can create a Dimension group for this purpose (Items -> Setup -> Dimension -> Dimension groups).  If you don't want to plan at the warehouse level, then you don't want the "Coverage plan by dimension" box checked for the item.

Not sure your question is clear, so to add to Brandon's post: You cannot run Master Planning for one warehouse, it would exclude other warehouses that would cause demand on the warehouse you are looking at so the requirements would be wrong.

You should run for all and then filter.

Basically if you have multiple warehouses and this covers all but warehouses need orders it depends what is happening.

    1. If you get the orders this is correct, your rules state this is required either by replenishment or transfer order.

    2. If you do not get the orders your dimension group is not set correctly.
