Remove Posted PJOURNALs

Within SQL Server there is the "Remove Posted PJOURNALs From All Companies" job that runs under the SQL Server Agent.

I notice on systems where the customer has transferred Dynamics to a newer server for example, that this agent job does not exist.

a) If it isn't there, will this eventually cause performance or posting problems in Dynamics GP?

b) Is there a quick way to create this job - or perhaps a script that should be run?

c) What's the real purpose to this job being there in the first place?

I am having a problem with the PJournal.  Several months ago, IT did move GP 2016 to a new server without doing an install.  We were told by support that a MS Dynamics GP "Repair" would load the job.  However, we rocked along for roughly 3 months without a problem only to crash with the same PJOURNAL error today.  I'm attaching all of the screen prints.  I just read the following statement in the doc referenced in this thread https://learn.microsoft.com/en-US/troubleshoot/dynamics/gp/experience-slow-performance

    • A PJOURNAL job is also created when you install Microsoft Business Solutions - Great Plains 7.5 and Microsoft Business Solutions - Great Plains 8.0. The PJOURNAL job must be turned on manually for the job to manage the PJOURNAL table so that the table does not grow larger and affect performance.
IF I was supposed to manually turn on the job, please tell me how to do that.  I can't find anything anywhere.

    THANK YOU!!!

    Hi Peggy-

Typically when I have to upgrade SQL Server and it requires moving all of the GP databases to this new server, one of the steps I have always done is to save the job as a SQL script in SQL Server Management Studio and then run those scripts on the new server to get them created again.

To turn on the job, you'll have to use SQL Server Management Studio, connect to your SQL Server, expand SQL Server Agent, expand Jobs, find the "Remove Posted PJOURNALs From All Companies" job, right click on it and select Enable.

    I hope this helps.

    Joe
