Including an unsubscribe-link using mail merge with Word - how does it work?

Hi,

I want to start distributing my newsletter via my Dynamics CRM online.

I understood how to use Word in the process and succeed in sending my mails. However, I don't see how I can include an unsubscribe link in the template.

I found this thread describing the problem, but I cannot match the offered solution with my situation.

So, can anybody please explain what I have to do to offer an unsubscribe link using the word mail merge?

Thanks, kind regards

Pikealot

    Hi,

Maybe this article can help you. It is for CRM 2011 but I reckon the functionality is the same.

    Hi Pedro,

thanks for your reply. I found this article as well, and it works for email-templates.

However, I use a mail-merge template (and want to use it, as I like the possibilities of designing the newsletter with word). I need the exact same functionality as described in your link - but included in the mail-merge-process.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks

    Hi Pike,

Check out this article. You can see that when using the client for outlook you have the option to include the unsubscribe link. Is this what you're looking for?

    Hi Pedro,

this is what I am looking for - but my system (Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2013) misses the deciding buttons / features.

Examples with reference to the link you post above:

    - in step 1.7, I can only upload a word template, the button "Create Template in Word" does not exist

    - in step 1.10, I have only the "electronic mail option" in the mail merge menue that is shown to the right, the option "upload template to crm" does not exist

    - And, probably the root cause of the problem, step 4.11-12 do not exist as well - after clicking "Ok" in the "merge to email"-window (4.10), the email gets send out without any further dialogue.

I am getting mad on this, since it makes it absolutely impossible to use CRM for sending newsletters, as the opt-out is required by law in Germany. It is a joke that it doesn't work.... this is a CRM-system, common! What else is it for than for sending newsletters?

    Any further ideas?

Thanks a lot for your time, I appreciate it!

    Hi Holger,

What confuses me is this is clearly something that existed before (the article is about CRM 4) and you are missing in CRM 2013.

With that in mind, I would be reluctant to suggest any third party marketing add-in tool until it is confirmed whether this can be done in CRM 2013 or not.

I wonder if any other CRM gurus might be able to shed some light into this?

    Regards,

    P.

Yes, it did exist, but it's gone now :-(

I contacted MS support, lets see what they can do. I'll post here if they have any useful recommendation.

I like the rest of the process, including designing the newsletter in Word, so I would be more than happy to perform this basic functionality without any third-party-stuff.
