Populate stated based on country selected.

Hi All,

I have a requirement to populate states when a country is selected. I achieved this functionality by using jscript, but my manger asked me to do without coding. I have a hint here that we can use lookup fields for both .

Is it possible to get this functionality done without coding?

    Hi Karthik,

Refer the link below. It describes how to achieve this functionality.

    See: www.powerobjects.com/.../filtered-lookups-vs-dependent-option-sets

    Hope this helps.

    Hi,

dependent lookups is an out of the box feature - you can basically say that in the second lookup you only want to see records which are related to the value selected in the first lookup. Just ofllow that PowerObjects article to set it up. That would be your only out-of-the-box approach if you wanted to avoid javascripts.

Otherwise, you have to use javascripts to configure the optionsets - it seems you are already doing it, but, just in case, here is a link:

    Hi Alex,

Is there any other way around to work this out?.

As per the point Muhammad said it's little bit confusing to me. Can you please suggest any other way to accomplish this.

You can use dependent lookups as Muhammad pointed out, but that means you'll have to create new fields to replace your original optionsets, you'll have to update views, and you'll have to update existing data.. Whether it would be worth it depends, of course, on how much  your manager dislikes javascripts:)
